Physiotherapists:Andrew Jansen Van Rensburg – Director.
Bsc Physiotherapy (Hons), Pilates Conditioning (Pretoria), Internationally Certified Triathlon Coach (ITU).
Andrew is the consultant Physiotherapist for the South African National Triathlon Team, and consults for other professional sporting teams in a rehabilitation and performance enhancement role. He is internationally published on articles regarding core strength and overuse injuries. He has been a Clinical Pilates instructor since 2001 and has modified his approach to great effect in the rehabilitation and performance fields.
He has been instrumental in advancing the Clinical Pilates field by using Real Time Ultrasound to assess the efficacy of Transversus Abdominis and Multifidus contractions. The modification of core strength programs by making the programs more functional, and clinically measurable has shown a significant improvement in the long-term rehabilitation rates of his patients.
He is an experienced Trauma ICU Physiotherapist and areas of interest include sporting injuries, overuse injuries, back pain and Sacro-iliac joint alignment issues.
Andrew is currently the head of the Triathlon South Africa Medical Commission, an active triathlon coach and athlete, and runs triathlon/duathlon clinics for underprivileged children affected by HIV/Aids in Diepsloot, Soweto.
Carolyn Hall – Physiotherapy(Hons).
Carolyn qualified at Wits in 2004 and went on to complete her community service year at Leratong Hospital in Krugersdorp. Here she managed a large workload of patients and was exposed to a wide variety of conditions.
Since then she has been based in a mainly hospital setting treating a variety of orthopaedic, surgical, paediatric and post-natal patients. She is also an experienced trauma ICU physiotherapist. Her areas of interest include treatment and management of sinusitis and jaw pain, neck pain and headaches.
Carolyn is a BASI certified Pilates instructor and will be teaching Clinical Pilates at the Centre.
